Thank you all. You are the perfect crowd and you know how to rock the party.
A lot of thanks go to many visitors from abroad as well. We got people from Ireland, France, the Netherlands and the UK. It’s crystal clear. Acid is growing and people come in bigger numbers every time. And they should, because in acid we trust. It occupies a special place in our hearts. The artists performed at their best and made the night superb! So big respect to them.

Thank you all for surrendering yourselves like that! The artists were also kicking it. Spacid built up the atmosphere slowly but surely, and delivered just like we’re used to from him. Leo Anibaldi continued in the same vein and really put the acid train in motion. He played a great set that touched a lot of aspects of acid. Our very own Ghent acid legend Black Francis switched gear and definitely tested our stamina. Miss Djax changed direction a bit again which a lot of you appreciated. She delivered a more subtle acid and techno set. And the cherry on the cake was Mr. Gasmask, in his own unique and funny ways he performed a killer live set which made the venue tremble. The edits of famous tracks definitely brought a smile on our faces. We ended the night with a fantastic feeling and a packed room. It was a good one, no doubt! We’re also happy that more and more international ravers are finding their way to Retro Acid. We welcomed people from France, The Netherlands, Germany and Italy. Mad props to all of you. We love you! Keep on raving and cya next year in February.

A very successful edition of our revered acid mass. Musically we were treated to an overwhelming acid experience! Steve Cop opened up the night with a qualitative and up building acid house set. At the end of his set, the crowd was already so excited and hungry for more. Rude 66 surprised us with a live set of raw and dirty sounds, definitely challenging our ears. Acid Junkies took over and took us on a colourful acid journey. They rocked the dancefloor in their own typical way, proving that they’re still on top of their game. RaveOurSouls delivered their own take on the 303 sound, firing off positive vibes that made you move and sweat intensely. Finally Spacid added the cherry to the acid cake by playing a hard acidcore set in his own technical way. You all approved, because nobody felt like leaving. Your great presence forced us to keep going for another extra 15 minutes. We need to do this again! Long live the acid! To remember this special night, here are some pictures. Enjoy!

Kozzmozz was the first organization to support up and coming dj’s with their Young Talent Corner in collaboration with Poppunt many years ago. Now that this Young Talent concept has become a steady value with many promoters in the Belgian nightlife, Poppunt also launched a bigger event for dj’s and producers called ’Play & Produce’. The first edition last year was a huge success and completely sold out. So we urge you to subscribe to the next one, which will be held on November 20th at Vooruit. You can expect a day full of workshops, master-classes, demo feedback and an extensive gear fair. This makes ’Play & Produce’ the must attend event for the electronic music scene. National and international top dj’s and producers will give the younger ones insights and tips on all that you need to know to make it in the scene. This edition of Retro Acid was musically a superb edition, if not one of the most superb. Mad shouts to all the acid worshipping people who showed up. You were amazing!!
The night started with a solid warm-up set by resident Spacid who always tries to touch a different side of acid. This time he warmed up the crowd on a late 80’s acid house trip with a spicy pinch of hip house influences, and as always in his typical scratchy dj-technique.
Damon Wild took over in a very smooth way, building up from acid house, gradually adding muscle and taking it to a more acid techno sound. He brilliantly took the people on a unique acid journey!
Acid Kirk ventured into more mid 90’s acid techno, delivering a very technical set with his typical fast mixing skills. Nervous acid all the way!.
Franky Jones surprised many and delivered big time! He played really hard pounding acid in the Drop Bass tradition. He simply blew away everyone with his amazing skills and his uncompromising raw and rough sound. Definitely an unforgettable highlight!
Closing the party was the 4-man crew Stoornis. Playing in their hometown Gent, their liveset was very impressive and a pleasure to watch. 4 meters of cables and 303’s guaranteed a fast, hard and ear shattering acid set that left the crowd screaming for more.

We sure had a blast again at the latest edition of Retro Acid! Tomaz had us in the mood from the start building up nicely with all those tracks we loved. And then came Beverly Hills 808303 who delivered big time. He went deep, dark and underground and sucked everyone into his brown and dirty Rotterdam sound. CJ Bolland took over and played better known records but that's what Retro Acid is also about. His set definitely proved that he totally deserves his international status. He sent us straight back to the glorious Hacienda days and left the room hungry for more. Arkanoïd's live set was a slow but steady build-up to his unique style combining hard sounds with uplifting and joyful acid. He gave the crowd acid with a big smile! Spacid played a fierce selection of rough and dirty acidcore reducing people's brains to pulp. The place went bonkers for the last time, until the lights went back on.

This Saturday's Retro Acid will be a unique event which we're very much looking forward to. Tomaz will open the party warming up the crowd for the highlight of the event, a dj-set by the one and only Beverly Hills 808303 from Holland. This is a rare and not to be missed performance by one of Holland's major acid pioneers. Our own Belgian pride CJ Bolland will then take the controls and play an exclusive acid dj-set. CJ Bolland playing acid is not something you experience everyday, so we're in for a special treat. For those who like it harder, we also invited Arkanoid to perform a live set. The closing act will be our resident Spacid who will end the night with uncompromising hard acid cuts.

Wasn’t it big fun again to relive the old days ... Spacid warmed us up nicely with some of the early jacking acid house. And then came Legowelt Live who brought his analogue gear on stage. He initially had a different musical approach but slowly got back on the acid track and delivered what we wanted: tweaking, bleeping acid sounds that got the room moving and shaking.
And then came Thomas P. Heckmann who made the room explode with pure acid from his label Trope. A lot of his own productions were mixed with some unforgettable classic german acid, just the way we like it. Raveoursouls continued with the same explosive atmosphere, in outfits that were perfect for the occasion and some nice acid toys to keep ourselves amused with. Acids were flying through the room, hands in the air & music pumping through the speakers. Kozz pumped it up further till we all left with a smile on our faces.

Over the last months, the electronic suspense was seriously raised with a teaser website, a campaign on TMF and a number of much-talked-about events, including Deaf Disco and an own club at Rock Werchter. At the beginning of September, the time will finally have come for the interactive website www.redbullelektropedia.be to be officially launched online.
To celebrate the launch of the final website, This Beat Is Elektronic will be hosted on Saturday 19 September, a large party in the Vooruit with a long line-up of legendary Belgian deejays and musicians – from the past to present. All have played an important role in the history and development of the electronic music scene in Belgium.

Shaman started out with acid house and got the room dancing away nicely when
we arrived at Vooruit with DJ Pierre. He stuck to the concept and played
mainly 303 music with some of his own Phuture classics next to many others.
He played a very trackey set with not many vocals but that’s what the crowd
seemed to love! Spacid took over and slowly built up the pace to the more
’90’ies acid sounds as preparation for DJ Choose from Denmark. He treated us
to a real live act with a completely analog set-up, a nice change in these
digitally controlled times: Drop bass Network and more of those sounds had
the room finally fired up so W-Sap could do his thing and hold the tempo
high with a great underground atmosphere till the end! Check out the

Shaman is maybe not that well-known in Ghent but he's been co-producing Shadowboxing in Brussels for almost ten years now. His goal is to reach the best alternative sounds by all shapes of avant-gardism & timeless beats. Last but not least, Shaman is also known as part of the second wave dj's to introduce, in Brussels, acid music (in the early) 90's in several known & secret venues. What a party ! The smiley's were everywhere, on people's faces, flying through the air, on t-shirts and in our ears !
JRD from Antwerp set just the right pace with better and lesser known acid house and techno tracks for Chicago legend Tyree Cooper to take over with a full blown acid house set. He's known for his mc-ing qualities as well as some acid house classics and we were treated to both ! Being good friends with Ben Sims he also announced him the proper way and then Ben make the room explode with his, especially for this party selected, set of real acid techno tunes ! X&Trick took it up ever further and then there was no stopping Spacid for his full on acid explosion.
The result : an almost completely full venue and all hands in the air when the lights when on !

We are almost ready to go back in time and re-discover the best acid sounds from the musical archives of the electronic generation. Be prepared for acid attacks from JRD from Technoir from Antwerp. A set from acid house legend Tyree Cooper from Chicago and Ben Sims who trows acid parties in London himself from time to time and maybe some back-to-back and mc-ing action bewteen them ... Bugklinik’s X&Trick have played all big experimebtal festivals this summer and now brings his latest live to us after which resident Spacid will allow us a peak in his extensive acid collection.

We bring you a very special treat on this next Retro Acid. After a spontaneous collaboration between Ben Sims and Tyree Cooper during one of their gigs, they decided they wanted to be booked together more and preferably on acid house parties. Ben Sims, known for his techno-sets, loves acid and organizes acid parties himself in London and Tyree Cooper is one of the originators from the acid house scene in Detroit. They will be accompanied by X&trick from Bugklinik as well as JRD from the Dutch Resistance. |

| What a great edition of Retro Acid it was … Paul Mac played a true retro set with all the big hits from ’88 till the beginning of the nineties and afterwards Brixton brought up the tempo with a smashing live-act. Black Francis and Arkanoïd proved their qualities as real acid experts again and you all loved it. A full room of smiling faces at 6am when the lights when on. What more can we ask for. You were great! Check out the pictures of this acid fest here and prepare yourselves for the next edition on the 16th of February 2008. We already have some new treats for you in store. On 20 October 2007 we celebrate once again the pioneering 303 which influenced all of electronic music.
Acid, in all its colours and shapes, has already been around for 21 years and still sounds timeless. Even in the year 2007, it still makes people go out of their minds on the dancefloor.
